Accounting Assistant

Location: Cleveland

Maxus is looking for a full-time Accounting Assistant responsible for assisting the Controller with financial reporting, financial planning & analysis, audit, and special projects. The Accounting Assistant will also be responsible for the filing of sales & personal property tax, as well as accounts payable processing. The ideal candidate will have two or more years of experience in public accounting or with a large corporation. Great Plains experience a plus.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):
• Posting financial data to accounts
• Participating in month-end; quarter-end & year-end
• Reconciling invoices and identifying discrepancies
• Processing payment sand documents such as invoices and employee reimbursements.
• Assist in preparing work papers for year-end audit
• General ledger maintenance and chart of accounts
• Research and resolve accounting issues as they arise
• Maintain the filing of sales and personal property tax
• Maintain orderly accounting filing system
• Assist upper management with special projects and ad-hoc financial analysis

Requirements:
• Proven work experience as a Staff Accountant/Accounting Assistant
• 2+ years of accounting experience
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred
• Experience with general ledger functions
• Experience with accounting software and Microsoft office user

Software Experience:
• MS Dynamics GP, Great Plains, Aspire, Office 365, Crystal Reports
• Expert skill level with Microsoft Excel (nested IF statements, VLOOKUP’s, pivot tables, macros, etc.)
